Position Summary: Performs general bookkeeping and accounting functions related to accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and job costing.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepares, verifies and codes purchase orders, invoices, journal entries or other accounting related transactions.
  • Review documents for accuracy, completeness and compliance with company's requirements.
  • Determines if funds are available from expenditures or requisitions and posts to proper account(s), monitors funds fund/account balances and notifies management when limits are reached.
  • Reviews computer reports to identify and trace sources of error(s) and makes necessary corrections
  • Prepares various special and recurring accounting reports, summaries, financial statements, statistical reports and performs reconciliations.
  • Performs or reviews specialized calculations related to posting and accounting functions
  • Solves problems and recommends changes in procedures in accordance with previous training or experience
  • Responsible for payroll preparation, processing billings (DOD and other contractual billings) and preparing inter-governmental schedule of values.
  • Familiar with Davis Bacon Act and preparation of wage documents consistent with this Act.

 

Education/Experience:

High School Diploma or GED required.  A minimum 2 yrs. of accounting experience. A minimum of 5 yrs. experience working in a construction office. Knowledge of SAGE MAS 500 accounting software is preferred.  Proficient in Excel, Word and Outlook.
